Why Is Galvanized Wire Mesh Important?

Mar 29, 2023

For both woven and welded wire mesh types, galvanizing can be done before or after wire fabrication. When individual wires are galvanized before the woven or welded wire mesh, this is referred to as "galvanizing before woven or welded material." When custom fabrication is required, this is usually the least expensive option (depending on the mesh or opening size).

As the name implies, "after galvanizing" woven or welded wire mesh is done after fabrication. To produce the "after galvanizing" woven or welded mesh specification, the mesh is typically made of carbon steel or plain steel and placed in a galvanizing bath. This option is typically the more expensive of the two, depending on availability, but it has the advantage of greater corrosion resistance. This reduced corrosion risk is more likely to be seen at the "post-galvanized" welded wire mesh specification's joints.
